2023 OAMRS Virtual Winter Chapter Event: Trauma Day

On February 25, please join us for our Virtual Winter Chapter Event: Trauma Day. This education event will feature a series of insightful expert speakers presenting on various subjects related to medical trauma and the medical radiation sciences. Don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity to gain continuing education hours for 2023. This event is free for OAMRS members to attend, and $50.00 for non-members.

 

The 2023 Winter Chapter event will feature presentations from professionals with unique experience working in medical trauma. The day will begin with a discussion from Dr. Marshall Dunn, MD, FRCPC - St. Michael's Hospital, U of T about Interventional Radiology in Trauma. Dr. Ange Diouf, MD, FRCPC, St. Michael's Hospital will then give a presentation on MRI Interpretation Basics for Clinicians in Trauma Settings. After a short break, we will hear from Marienell Talla, CT Technologist, MRT(R), HBSc, Unity Health Toronto - St. Michael's Hospital who will speak about Trauma Imaging in CT. Finally, Dr. LCOL Andrew Beckett, CD, MD, MSc, FRCSC, FACS - Unity Health Toronto - St. Michael's Hospital and the Canadian Armed Forces will speak about Combat Radiology.

Interventional Radiology in Trauma
Dr. Marshall Dunn, MD, FRCPC - St. Michael's Hospital, U of T

Dr. Marshall Dunn currently works as the current Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellow at St. Michael's Hospital. His presentation will be focused on common procedures performed by interventional radiologists for management of bleeding in trauma.

Case Based Approach to MRI Interpretation Basics for Clinicians in a Trauma Setting
Dr. Ange Diouf, MD FRCPC - St. Michael's Hospital

Dr. Ange Diouf completed his medical degree at McGill University in 2015 and his specialization in diagnostic radiology at the University of Montreal in 2020. He recently completed a fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology at the University of Toronto in 2022 and is currently undergoing an interventional neuroradiology fellowship at St. Michael's Hospital. He is also concurrently undertaking a master's degree at the University of Montreal in Experimental Medicine, focusing on inter-observer agreement in neuroimaging.

Trauma Imaging In CT
Marienell Talla, CT Technologist, MRT(R), HBSc, Unity Health Toronto - St. Michael's Hospital

Marienell will present her experience working as a CT technologist at a level 1 trauma centre. She will share details on trauma protocols, special considerations for trauma patients and the role of the technologists working in trauma centres.

Combat Radiology
Dr. Andrew Beckett, LCOL, CD, MD, MSc, FRCSC, FACS - Unity Health Toronto - St. Michael's Hospital/Canadian Armed Forces

Dr. Andrew Beckett is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Canadian Medical Service and the Medical Director of the Trauma Program at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. He also works as an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. Dr. Beckett's research interests include massive transfusion and resuscitation in the austere setting, combat casualty database management and military simulation training.
