Dianne Robia, MRT, Breast Health Navigator/Senior Mammography Technologist - Ross Memorial Hospital

Nomination Summary: Dianne has been described by her colleagues as a professional who "goes above and beyond for each patient she interacts with daily to provide the most exceptional care possible. She is continually advancing her clinical and practical knowledge by educating herself in continuing education."

As a leader, Dianne shows excellent skill and helps her co-workers when they are in need. In the eyes of new trainees in Breast Imaging, she is known to be a true role model who will stop whatever she is doing and be there in a flash to assist with any cases or patients whenever she is able. Dianne is a true example of an outstanding, courageous, thoughtful, patient-centred employee.

When it comes to the patients themselves, they are always comfortable in Dianne's hands thanks to her compassion and understanding of their medical journeys. Dianne takes pride in her work and puts forth her total effort each and every day, which is apparent in the positive impact she has on patients and colleagues. Lee Ann Kitamura, RTMR, RTR, MRT(R), (MR), Diagnostic Imaging Team - SickKids Hospital

Nomination Summary: Lee Ann's colleagues describe her as someone who is "pleasant, intelligent and cares deeply for patients who pass her way." In her role as an MRT, Lee Ann works with surgeons for intraoperative MRI, and has also very ably supported ICU nurses and physicians in the trial for a portable MRI machine.

Lee Ann works in high pressure situations, handling children on life support in the ICU, dealing with their concerned parents, and collaborating with nurses and physicians. Through all of these difficult and stressful situations, Lee Ann carries herself in an exceptionally humane and empathic manner. Lee Ann is always very patient in answering questions for families and is a strong advocate for her patients. Her demeanor is always pleasant and she goes above and beyond to make her patients and their families feel comfortable and supported during long MRI scans. One example of this kindness was when Lee Ann went out of her way and covered the hospital parking cost for a stressed out parent who left their wallet at home. There are several more examples of Lee Ann's outstanding work which can be found here in her supporting documents. Click here to read more about Lee Ann.
